What is the Purpose of a Country?

What is a country’s purpose? This is a question that not many people ask themselves. You go about your daily life in your normal 9–5 job, you wake up, you eat, you go to work, you come back home and you sleep. This may not be the case for you but for a lot of people it is, but as you carried on your daily life have you ever once sat down and asked yourself what is the purpose of my country? What do I bring to the table for my country? Is the purpose of a country just to solely survive by selling their natural resources or manufactured goods? What makes a country a country? Personally I think some countries are in a race of power. What I mean by that is that there are some countries who marvellously continue to build up their country and economy, but are they doing it for the right reasons? If they are just building up their economies for power and just to be at the top of the world I would say it’s not worth it. What is the point of power if the people of the country are not happy. People migrate based upon how successful a country is. For example, during the 19th century where the Industrial revolution took place, people would obviously migrate to England because Britain was the centre of The Industrial revolution. Were the people that moved there happy? Over half of the workers were depressed. Do you know why? It was because they only chased after the money the industry was making. How can someone be happy if they continually move from country to country in sought of money? They may be wealthy but not happy and in some cases they don’t have a happy family. Now, for some people, they have to do this to survive otherwise they will end up homeless which is totally understandable. A lot people talk about the “American Dream” which is wishful thinking. Some people end up giving up on it because it’s harder than they thought but if you have motivation, someone you care about and you wish to give that person the best life, I’m sure you’ll make it. Yes, if you truly have the motivation to do it, I say go for it head on but if you’re just doing it for money and not for happiness just forget about it. It’ll only bring you regret and depression. Now, that is an example of what some countries do. They make decisions that’ll make the country a lot more money but doesn’t make the citizens happy which makes no sense. The one’s who inhabit the country are unhappy. The hard work for the money is a waste of time if the citizens are unhappy. You may be able to buy that Lamborghini you wanted since you were a kid, but think about this. That same Lamborghini you bought, you have to drive it to that same job that makes you unhappy. So I come back to the question. What is a country’s purpose? A country’s purpose is to make the citizens happy and comfortable. A country’s purpose is to help struggling citizens who may not be beneficiary as the other citizens. A country’s purpose is to provide and make money for the citizens while they are still happy. A country is not only run by its government but it is a synergistic relationship between the government and the citizens. Citizens must also help out each other. Remember a country’s success rate is not only based upon GDP but also the happiness of the citizens.
